Xiaomi could be dropping a bomb on the mid-range smartphone market on 22nd September with the launch of the new Xiaomi Mi4c.
The Xiaomi Mi4c will be the 3rd Mi4 model to launch since last year. From what we have learned from leaks and TENAA documents the new phone will sit between the Xiaomi Mi4i and Mi4 and come in at a very competition price.
Design and sizing of the new Xiaomi phone should be very similar to the Mi4i with a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 display, a 6 core Snapdragon 808 chipset, and options for either 2GB RAM 16GB storage, or 3GB RAM 32GB storage. We doubt the phone will feature room for a micro SD card, but dual SIM 4G LTE support is highly likely.
Cameras will be a 5 mega-pixel front, 13 mega-pixel rear and we should see the Mi4c ship with the latest MIUI 7 system based on Android 5.1.1.
Like most Xiaomi phones the Mi4c will first be launched in China during the Beijing launch event and then rolled out across Xiaomi global launch areas. Those of us not in an official area will need to use a reseller.

If I only could know the launch date of Mi5, too so I could decide to buy this one or wait for the other …
pandawill has it on presale for 229,99$ and they say it has a SDcard slot!

More likely it just their guess, many Chinese webshops are creating pages for the mi4c with rumoured specs already and change the info after it has been officially released.
Any news on the pricing? Any chance to be below 300$ after resellers?
I doubt it considering the pricing of the Mi4i at launch and the upgraded SoC in the Mi4c. My guess is 350$ for the 16GB version and 400$ for the 32GB version. Unfortunately Xiaomi is not likely to support B20. If they do however, this might be a good competitor for the new Nexus 5 which will have the same SoC but a slightly larger screen. Then again, I do prefer stock Android over MIUI so the price will have to be very sharp considering the Nexus 5 will be sold for under 400$ (according to rumours).
Psst, be quite about its possible price! Balcobomber25 told us before that the boss of Xiaomi Lei Jun is watching us …
Well in that case:
Please kindly release kernel sources in full for the Xiaomi Mi4c, thankyou.
Then you really will have a competitor for the new Nexus 5.
Famous Chinese leaker has mentioned the Chinese prices of the mi4c. 2GB 16GB ROM version will costs you around 208 US Dollar in China and 3GB 32GB ROM around 240 US Dollar in China.
Agree, most likely no B20 support, but for me that is not an huge issue if the pricing is true.
Three and EE support B20 in the UK, for those interested.
I was talking about reseller pricing. I believe the Mi4i was sold for 300$ by resellers when it was just released. It didn’t take long before the price dropped though. Since the Mi4c has a better SoC, I expect a higher price. Guess we will find out soon :).
In order for third party rom development they will have to release the kernel sources. I believe these were only partially released for Mi3/Mi4 and hence the reason for buggy lollipop roms on these devices.
The chance of seeing Marshmallow 6.0 roms is virtually nil for the Mi4c.
It will most likely be at around 200 bucks in china
Very big chance that the 2GB 16GB ROM version will costs around 208 US Dollar in China and 3GB 32GB ROM around 240 US Dollar in China.
This means you will buy the 2GB 16GB ROM version from resellers for around 250 US Dollar and the 3GB 32GB ROM version will costs you about 280-290 US Dollar from resellers. So it’s a nice competitor of the Nexus 5X
Famous Chinese leaker has mentioned the Chinese prices of the mi4c. Personnally, I think I will consider the 3GB 32GB ROM version, because there is no microsd card slot. Also, hopefully they keep the same camera and screen brand manufacturer of the mi4i and not change it to Chinese brands to keep the costs low.
i’ve read somewhere that it will be available only in limited quantities, 100k. If this is true, the price via resellers won’t be a friendly one to us.
That is a translation error and this has been picked up by several tech sites.
Xiaomi wants to sell as much as possible to reach their annual sales target, not only 100k in total.
it would be nice, but i don’t see how mi4c will help their sales when most of xiaomi fans are in in standby for mi5.
But for me, mi4c has the right hardware and the perfect dimensions for that price (~$250)
Because the pricing is different. We don’t know how much the mi5 will costs (likely 1999 yuan or more) and when it is going to be released (this year or next year).
I don’t wanna be sound like i’m not looking forward to the Mi5 but I just hope it will be around for sale with Christmas or even better next year. I have other phones that I’m planning to get (to test and sell, give away). The Mi5 is a phone that I will probably use as my daily driver so I wouldn’t mind waiting a bit longer for this.
I’ll keep an eye on this one, just in case Bluboo exaggerate with X500S price. Just wish Adeno418 is a bit more powerfull. Anyone knows how does it compare to Mali T764?
I’m increasingly having doubts about the truth value of the Bluboo Xtouch (or X500), as its release was expected for this month. Bluboo kept their mouths tight shut after the latest teasers were released last July. Even on their latest blog post regarding this proposed flagship phone, their latest response is already over a month old. To be honest the Xtouch could become the most veritable successor to the 2014 vapor ware phone of the year JiaYu S4. But I honestly hope I’m wrong on this; September still last for 3 more weeks.
Being a fan of the MIUI rom (and various other Xiaomi products) since 2013, I would love to go for the Mi4C in stead, but again it seems that Xiaomi will not provide full support for all FDD-LTE 4G bands…
I too would like to see more news about Xtouch. On the blog you already mentioned, I asked them what is the reason for such a secrecy, but ofcourse, no reply. btw, there are two Xtouch versions, and the one based on 6573 is already scheduled for shipping to end users on 21th by geekbuying. I’ll give them few more weeks, then I’ll either grab Xiaomi or something else that might arise in the meanwhile.
Yeah, that’s the wisest thing to do. I am looking for a 5″ phone (or even 4,7″) with some decent specs for quite some time now:
* the range of Mi4’s never provided B20 support (key feature for me)
* the Jiayu S4 was never released
* the Elephone P3000S was a big disappointment (it’s the one I currently use)
* the iOcean X9 is withdrawn from sales as it faced major quality issues (read here)
* the Bluboo Xtouch seems to fail its release, similar to the S4
I am currently looking for some decent reviews of the Doogee F3 Pro now. It might not be the fastest with the MTK 6753 SoC, but the Pro version is fitted with 3 Gb of Ram, sd-card expandable storage, B1/3/7/20 4G-support, FHD screen and a slender housing and near-stock 5.1 Lollipop installed.
And of course, any other suggestions that meet or exceed the specs above are most welcome
There was a mentioning of Doogee F3 Pro limited edition with 6795 inside. I would like to get a hold of that one. But unfortunately no one spoke about it for a long time.
